HAVE YOUR SAY
The planning application for Sawston Village College (24/04406/FUL) is now available on the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning register here. Where you can also find detailed reports relating to the application.
The proposals offer:
- A major investment from the DfE
- Protection of Sawston Village College’s historic listed buildings
- Transformation of the learning environment for all pupils and staff
- A sustainable new building which will enable savings on running costs
- High quality architectural design reflecting the College’s heritage and unique character
- Improved and accessible facilities for the local community to share
- Flexible external and internal learning spaces more suitable to a modern curriculum
- Comprehensive construction management plan to help minimise disruption to neighbours
As a direct result of feedback received from the community, statutory stakeholders and Design Review Panels on our draft proposals presented in our public exhibition earlier this year, the project team has made a number of amendments to the plans including;
- Marven Centre - as a result of community feedback the bleacher seating will feature seat backs.
- New building design updated - to include full height and different colour bricks on facades, plus feature brickwork.
- Dining canopies – external structures have been relocated to reduce impact.
- Additional tree and shrub planting - within car parks to soften and screen the boundaries.
